Romantic! Man Shoots Girlfriend with Bullet Inscribed with "Will You Marry Me?"

Over the weekend Mark Bishop of Lawton, Oklahoma was arrested for shooting his girlfriend. Well actually, I guess now you can say for shooting his fiance….

According to witnesses; Bishop, his girlfriend Cyndi Beals, and three mutual friends were hiking in the Wichita Mountains when they came to a clearing. The group stopped to rest and enjoy the view, which is when Bishop drew a handgun without warning and shot Beals near the left side of her collarbone.

As the sound of the shot reverberated through the mountain air, the shocked friends turned to see Bishop down on one knee holding the bullet casing which he seemed to be handing to Beals. On it were engraved the words “WILL YOU MARRY ME?”

“I couldn't believe he'd do something like that,” says friend Jacob Moore who was on the hike that day. “I always knew Bish was a big softy deep down!”

“It’s a bold move for sure,” adds friend Bailey Davis who was also on the scene, “but sometimes in life you just gotta shoot your shot. So to speak.”

“He'd could've just shot his gun into the air,” says fellow hiker Moira Paulson, “but true romantics like Mark never half-ass this stuff.”

Cyndi Beals tells us she has one regret from that day: That she didn't have her own gun on her.

“I'd have loved to shoot the bastard right back!” she says, “with a bullet with the word ‘yes’ written on it!”

When asked if he was worried he'd hurt his bride-to-be with this romantic gesture, Bishop stated “It's just a frangible round, bro, don't ruin the moment!”

Cyndi Beals was summarily airlifted to a nearby hospital where doctors quickly pronounced her the happiest girl in the world. Beals herself tells us she can't wait to show off her new engagement ring, just as soon as she can lift her arm again.

If you'd like to buy a congratulatory present for the happy couple, they're registered at Jimbo's Gun and Fishing Tackle but will also accept cash gifts to help pay down Cyndi’s medical debt. At the time of publication, no formal charges have been pressed against Bishop.
